Ishwardi Upazila Awami League celebrated Sheikh Russel Day with due respect in a festive mood.
The day began with the hoisting of national and party flags at the Awami League office in the morning. Later, a wreath was laid at the portrait of the martyred Sheikh Russel.
Alhaj Nuruzzaman Biswas, Member of Parliament for Pabna-4. was present as te chief guest, while Bir Muktijoddha Alhaj Naib Ali Biswas, President of Upazila Awami League and Chairman of Upazila Parishad presided over the function. Conducted by General Secretary and former Mayor Abul Kalam Azad Mintu.
Meanwhile, freedom fighter Golam Mostafa Channa Mandal, freedom fighter Akram Hossain, vice chairman Abdus Salam Khan, district council member Shafiul Alam Biswas, convener of Swechchhasebak League Masud Rana, joint convener Sajib Malitha, Juba League leader Touhiduzzaman Dolan Biswas and others.
On the occasion of Sheikh Rassel’s 58th birthday, a prayer mahfil and cake cutting was organized at the Awami League office in the afternoon.
