Bangladesh storm into Jr. SAFF final

The Bangladesh U-16 national football stormed into the final of SAFF U-16 Championship beating Pakistan by 2-1 goals in the second semifinal held today (Friday) in Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan.

Bangladesh will now play the final match against first semifinal winners’ India on Sunday (September 10) at the same venue.

India earlier confirmed their spot of final thrashing Maldives by 8-0 goals in the first semifinal.

In the day’s match, Murshed Ali and Abu Sayeed scored one goal each for Bangladesh in the 14th and 30th minutes respectively.

Earlier, Bangladesh made a losing start as they suffered a solitary goal defeat to defending champions India but bounced back to earn a lone goal victory over Nepal in their second match to finish group A runners-up.

While Pakistan beat Bhutan by 2-1 goals in their group opening match and defeated Maldives by 3-0 goals in their second group match to emerge group B top.
