Md Mushsraf Hossain from Sherpur:

Sherpur police recovered the hanging body of a housewife from a house in Munsirchar Tankachar village in Sherpur’s sadar upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shahana Begum (38), wife of Aynal Haque of Munsirchar Tankachar village under Charmocharia union of the Sherpur.

According to family sources, Shahana Begum’s husband Aynal Haque lives in Saudi Arabia. Shahana lived with her three sons at her husband’s home in Munsirchar Tanakacha area.

Shahana had an argument with her husband’s elder brother’s wife over boiling rice. Apart from this, there was also a family quarrel between them over money transactions. Shahana was angry and arrogant about these issues. This is why the locals think that Shahana Begum has chosen suicide.

Sources said, Shahana’s eldest son Saeed woke up and saw that his mother was not at home. Then at one stage of the search, the relatives saw Shahana hanging with a rope around the neck of a jackfruit tree next to the house at 11:30 am.

Shahana Begum’s eldest son Saeed said at noon that it would be decided later whether to file a case or not, but his mother committed suicide by hanging herself, he added.

Sadar police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain said black spots were found on the neck of the deceased Shahana.

Initially, it is believed that Shahana Begum committed suicide by hanging herself due to a family quarrel, SI Anwar Hossain added.

The body was sent to the morgue of Sherpur district sadar hospital for autopsy to determine the real cause of death.
