Dealers are not taking low quality fertilizers, there are allegations of extortion

Sahidul Islam Nirab, Sarishabari, Jamalpur : Any single truck is not being loaded with fertilizers without subscription.
It was learned on Saturday morning that dealers have stopped buying fertilizer for the last four days due to low quality of urea fertilizer.
Meanwhile, the Jamuna factory authorities are in dire straits with a stockpile of about 34,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer. Although there is a huge demand for Jamuna fertilizer, no dealer wants to take imported fertilizer.Because the farmers do not want to buy imported fertilizers.
Dealers complained that they were seeing regular losses by purchasing rotten manure. Dealers said that due to mismanagement and negligence of the factory authorities, the fertilizer are rotted and melted.
Waresh Ali, sales officer of the Jamuna Fertilizer Factory in Tarakandi area of ​​the upazila, said dealers would have to take both imported fertilizers and Jamuna-produced fertilizers. The factory still has a stock of 33,000 metric tons, of which 52,060 tons are produced by the Jamuna Fertilizer Factory, the rest are imported. Allocated 12 tons per dealer in the factory command area. Among these fertilizers are 9 tons produced by Jamuna and 3 tons of imported fertilizers.
Dealer Khalilur Rahman, owner of Rina Traders, said it has been made mandatory to import 3 tonnes of fertilizer along with urea fertilizer produced by Jamuna allotted to dealers every month. We are facing huge losses as the farmers have not taken the imported rotten manure. We want Jamuna fertilizer, we will not take imported rotten fertilizer. Besides, the workers have to pay an additional fee of 500tk to 600 tk.
Dealer Akbar Hossain, owner of Aklima Traders, said, “We are forced to buy fertilizer even at a loss, because if we do not buy fertilizer, the license will be revoked.”
Sujid Majumder, MD of the factory, said, “I don’t know why the imported fertilizer dealers don’t want to buy fertilizer.” However, I heard that the quality of fertilizer is low and do not take the sack is torn, frozen, sore throat and rotten. We will not give them to them, let the dealers take the good fertilizers.
