Covid-19: Bangladesh reports 2,584 fresh cases, 24 deaths

Bangladesh Friday reported 2,584 Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 24 lives.

“The country reported 9.31 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 27,765 samples were tested in the past 24 hours,” Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.

In the past 24 hours, the combined figure of coronavirus in Dhaka city and upazilas of the district is 1,444 while eleven Covid-19 deaths were reported during the period.

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,931 people and infected 19,29,154 so far, the statement added.

The recovery count rose to 17,37,854 after another 9,988 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 90.08 percent Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.50 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

The DGHS said among the total 28,931 fatalities, 12,702 occurred in Dhaka division, 5,824 in Chattogram, 2,128 in Rajshahi, 3,705 in Khulna, 973 in Barishal, 1,317 in Sylhet, 1,405 in Rangpur and 877 in Mymensingh division.
