The ruling Awami League will hold peace rally across the country tomorrow as the party’s general secretary Obaidul Quader announced the programmes from its rally at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque’s south gate here today.

Awami League (AL)’s Dhaka City South and North units organized the rally.

About BNP’s call for enforcing countrywide hartal, Quader said none would support the hartal called to carry out anarchy terming hartal as a blunt weapon to press home for any demand.

“We will hold peace rally across the country at cities, district towns, thanas and upazilas. We are in favour of peace but against of terrorism and disorder. We seek peace over turmoil,” he said.

He said AL wants peace during elections as well as in the post elections period.

BNP is a murderous and terrorists’ party, they have returned to their old destructive activities today, he added.

Today BNP men carried out attacks on chief justice’s residence, police personnel and a member of police was killed too, the minister said, adding that the attackers won’t be spared.

Turning to the country’s development, he said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today opened the underwater expressway Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel constructed beneath river Karnaphuli in Chattogram, first of its kind in South Asia.

Dhaka City South AL President Abu Ahmed Mannafi chaired the peace and development rally while central leaders of AL and city AL leaders also spoke.
