5 pharmacies fined Tk 36,000 in Cumilla

A team of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) in a drive here today realised Taka 36,000 as fine from the owners of five pharmacies for creating artificial crisis of saline and selling it at higher prices in Tomchambridge area under Sadar upazila the district town.

Sources concerned said the DNCRP team, led by assistant director Md Asadul Islam, conducted the drive at five five pharmacies, fined Taka 36,000 for creating artificial crisis of saline and selling it at higher prices. The dishonest traders are handing over the salines to the patient’s relatives if they get a high price in Tomchambridge area.

The pharmacies were fined Taka 36,000 for violation of the Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009.

Members of the law enforcement agencies assisted in the operation team. The drive would continue in the district, Islam added.
