A large number of tourists are likely to gather in Sylhet during the consecutive 3-day holiday. If the weather is favorable, the number of tourists can exceed lakhs, the tourism officials of Sylhet think.
On Thursday (September 28) is the holiday of Miladunnabi (SM) on the holy Eid. The next two days (Friday-Saturday) are weekly public holidays. Tourists from different parts of the country have booked 90% of Sylhet’s hotels, motels and resorts for these three days. Government officials and private employees of various districts are rushing to enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty scenes of Sylhet, known as the daughter of nature. Tourist lovers want to spend this opportunity to spend time alone in Sylhet.
Tourism officials said that on the occasion of the holiday, millions of tourists will gather in Sylhet on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For the past 15 days, people from different parts of the country have been booking hotels-motels and resorts in Sylhet through various channels.
By Tuesday (September 26), almost 90 percent of Sylhet’s hotel-motel rooms have been booked by tourists. As of writing this report, they are contacting most of them but are returning them. Upscale hotels, motels and resorts are almost 100% booked already.
President of Sylhet Tourism Club Humayun Kabir Liton said – in the last two weeks, about 90 percent of the rooms of Sylhet’s hotels, motels and resorts have been booked. Lakhs of tourists are likely to gather in Sylhet during the three days of the holiday. This is very positive for the tourism sector of Sylhet. This three-day tourist gathering will be somewhat helpful in reducing the loss of 3 years during the corona period.
He said – the reason for the large number of tourists gathering in Sylhet at this time is that the election ground will be hot for the next 3 months in November, December and January. Tourists will not want to go out much due to various fears. So now they are running to the tourist spots after getting the opportunity. And the main attraction of the tourists is the hills-Jharna-Haor area of Sylhet. Therefore, a large number of tourists will gather in Sylhet on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Belal Hossain said -Sylhet is crowded with tourists during weekends and various holidays. Tourist police are especially alert and ready in Sylhet for the safety of tourists on these days. The next three days will not be an exception. We will strive to provide maximum security to the tourists by carrying out round-the-clock duties even with a small number of manpower. If necessary, we will take the support of the local administration.
