More than 1.75 million people have fled Ukraine to Poland since the war began, the Polish Border Guard agency said Monday.

Not all of those refugees are thought to be currently in Poland. Maciek Duszczyk, the vice-rector for research at Warsaw University estimates that about one million refugees remain in Poland, and the rest have already left for other countries.

On Sunday, 82,100 people crossed the border, the Border Guard agency wrote on Twitter, up from 79,800 on Saturday.

As of 06:00 GMT on Monday, 18,400 had crossed the frontier.

More now on reports of Russian shelling in a northern suburb of Kyiv. The city administration says the Antonov aircraft “plant”, not Antonov Airport, has come under fire.

The Antonov aircraft manufacturing facility is located at Sviatoshyn Airfield, about 10km from Kyiv city centre.

Unverified videos shared on social media show a thick plume of dark smoke above the factory. The city administration says emergency services are at the scene of the explosion.
