Caritas officials visit homes of IGA beneficiaries in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent, 20 January 2022:
The officials of the Emergency Response Program (ERP) of Caritas Bangladesh in Cox’s Bazar, on Thursday (20 January 2022) visited homes of the people of host community who received Income Generation Activities (IGA) supports in Rajapalong union in Ukhiya upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.

Manik Biswas, Manager, MEAL (BMZ), Md. Mozammel Haque, Program Officer DRR Training, and Shaymol Symond Assam, Monitoring Officer among others visited the houses of a number of people who received IGA supports from Caritas Bangladesh.

Md Shariful Islam, Program Manager, DRR, ERP, Caritas Bangladesh, said “Emergency Response Program (ERP) of Caritas Bangladesh has distributed Tk 25,000 for each of 200 households of the host community in Cox’s Bazar district. The IGA supports were given under BMZ Project funded by Caritas Germany.”

Manik Esahak Biswas, Manager, MEAL (BMZ), Caritas Bangladesh has selected the beneficiaries from vulnerable community members through Household Survey at ward no -5, 7 & 8 in Rajapalong Union.

Md Shariful Islam said “Beneficiaries of IGA supports have used the cash in livestock rearing, chicken farming and different small business compatible in their respective localities.”

Program Officer Md. Mozammel Haque, said “The IGA supports were distributed through Mobile Banking.”

Md Shariful Islam also said that Caritas Bangladesh has distributed Portable Hand Washing device among 800 households and gradually 200 more households will receive this facility.
