A preparatory meeting has been held in Chitalmari to deal with possible cyclone “Yaas”. The emergency preparatory meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad meeting room on Monday, May 24 where Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Liton Ali chaired.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Ashok Kumar Baral was present as the chief guest in the meeting.
Among others, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mamun Hasan, Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.H. M. Kamruzzaman Khan, Upazila Awami League President Md. Babul Hossain Khan, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Sheikh Mahatabuzzaman, Women Vice Chairman Sabera Begum, Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Apurba Das, Sadar UP Chairman Sheikh Nizam Uddin, Charbaniari UP Chairman Archana Baral Jharna, Kalatala UP Chairman Sikder Matiar Rahman and heads of different departments of the upazila were present.
According to the meeting, it was decided to keep a total of 22 cyclone shelters and other educational institutions open in all the 7 unions of Chitalmari Upazila for safe shelter in the face of cyclone Yas. It was also informed at the meeting that in order to provide emergency services, adequate relief arrangements have been made including 7 emergency medical teams.
