7,421 get second doses of Covid-19 vaccine in Sherpur

A total of 7,421 citizens got their second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine till Thursday with the second dose of the jabs in Sherpur district.

Health officials said the 7,421 citizens got the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccines till Thursday afternoon; include 4,789 male and 2,632 female of all five upazila in the district.

The upazila-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 7,421 citizens stands at 4,346 in Sherpur sader upazila, 962 in Nakla upazila; 1,030 in Nalitabari, 636 in Shribarddi and 447 in Jhenaighati upazila till on Thursday afternoon.

After taking the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Nakla upazila health complex vaccination centre Thursday noon, a number of the second dose recipient citizens told the correspondent that they were feeling normal without side effects.

The first and second dose recipient of Nakla upazila thanked the Upazila Health Complex (UHC) authorities for conducting the first and second dose vaccine of the COVID-19 of the vaccination programmed simultaneously in an orderly manner strictly maintaining the health directives of the government.

The total number of citizens who got the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine now rose to 33,420, including 19,325 male and 14,095 female of all five upazila in the Sherpur district.

Dr Golam Mostafa UHFPO of Nakla said that, The upazila-wise break-up of the first dose recipient 33,420, citizens stands at 8,153 male and 6,146 female in Sherpur sader upazila, 3,417 male and 2,731 female in Nakla, 3,995 male and 2,653 female in Nalitabari, 2,556 male and 1,775 female in Shribarddi, 1,204 male and 790 female in Jhenaighati upazila till on Thursday afternoon.

A total sample collection of 1,402; among that 2 people were newly infected on Thursday and total of 118 were infected with COVID-19, 106 were recovered, 11 people were treated and 1 person died in Nakla upazila, Dr Golam Mostafa added on Thursday afternoon.

Talking to the correspondent, Dr Golam Mostafa UHFPO of Nakla upazila health complex said vaccination of the first and second doses of the jabs are continuing smoothly in the upazila. He called upon all citizens to abide by the health directives and wear masks even after taking the first and second doses of the jabs to remain safe and contain the rapidly rising coronavirus infection in the upazila.
