Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said she hopes to hold Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams from mid-November and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam from the start of December.

“If everything goes well, I hope the SSC and HSC exams will be held from mid-November and the start of December respectively,” she said.

The education minister said this while talking to reporters at the capital’s Shilpokala Academy after inaugurating the 17-day long “Bangabandhu-Bapu” Digital Exhibition at the academy’s National Art Gallery this morning.

Dr Dipu Moni said though they got information regarding students getting infected with Covid-19, they later found those false.

“The pandemic is still going on worldwide. Though the infection rate has come below the five percent mark, we have to keep a sharp eye on the situation. Someone can get infected, may be at home, outside or in an educational institute. We are monitoring the situation to avert such a case,” she said.

While answering a question, the minister said they don’t want to bring the pre-primary level students to schools yet, adding, “Let them attend the online or television classes from their homes. Let three weeks time pass, then we would make a decision regarding them,” she said.

Presided over by Cultural Affairs Secretary Md Abul Monsur, the inaugural function was attended by State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid and Indian High Commissioner Vikram K Doraiswami as special guests.

Organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the exhibition will remain open for all from 11am to 8pm every day.
