Bangladesh to be branded at Dubai Expo-2020


The “Dubai Expo-2020”, one of the largest expositions of the world, would begin from October 1 at Dubai, United Arab Emirates with the participation of various countries, international organizations and companies.

The six-month long exposition would continue till March 31, 2022.

The theme of the Dubai Expo-2020 is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” while the three other sub themes are “Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability”.

Centering the exposition, the government has taken an initiative to highlight strongly the socio-economic development and culture of the country apart from expanding export and investment.

Special programmes will be arranged at the Bangladesh pavilion of the Exposition marking the centenary birth celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman side by side meetings and seminar would be held on Bangabandhu and the War of Liberation on special days.

Talking to BSS, Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh said that unlike other expositions, there is a huge scope for Bangladesh to highlight its overall history, heritage, and various attainments before the whole world at the Expo 2020 apart from showcasing the local products. “We’re taking preparations accordingly.”

He also informed that preparations have been taken to project strongly the sustainable development of Bangladesh in different socio-economic fields.

Although the Dubai Expo-2020 was supposed to take place last year, but it could not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organizers hoped that some 25 million visitors would gather at the Expo featuring 200 pavilions of some 192 countries.

Meanwhile, a display center has been set up at the two-storey Bangladesh Pavilion having a space of 436 square meters at the Dubai Expo-2020 where there would be digital expositions, offices, conference rooms, B to B meeting halls.

The exhibition title of the Bangladesh Pavilion has been set at “Indomitable Bangladesh: Towards Sustainable Development”.
