5 claimed to be shot dead in Brahmanbaria clash

A total of four people were killed in a clash among Hefajat-e-Islam activists, police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Cumilla-Sylhet highway in Sadar Upazila of Brahmanbaria on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a madrasa student was also killed in a clash between a group of madarasa students and local Awami League-Chhatra League men in Kandipara area in the district town.

Abdul Momin Fuad, a member of Brahmanbaria district unit of Hefajat-e-Islam, claimed five of their supporters were shot dead.

“Of them, four, who took part in the procession brought out by Hefajat, were killed as police-BGB members opened fire at a procession of Hefajat-e-Islam in Brahmanbaria this afternoon,” he said.

“Besides, a madrasa student was shot dead when Awami League and Chattra league men attacked on a madrasa,” Fuad claimed at a press briefing in front of Brahmanbaria General Hospital. -The Daily Star
