The World Concern Bangladesh has observed the World Day Against Trafficking-2022 on Saturday (30 July 2022) at Momrej Golgonda Public High School under Jamuria Union in Ghatail of Tangail.
The day was observed with the theme “the use and abuse of technology”, highlighting that technology has significantly exacerbated exploitation and trafficking.
On the occasion a rally was brought out that followed by a discussion attended by children, parents, civil society representatives, teachers, Government officials and local community people
The event was organized under Ensure Protection & Justice through Integrated Approach (EPJIA) Project.
Presiding over the event, Momrej Golgonda Public High School Headmaster Md. Abu Hanif said that every day, there are a large number of Children and women have trafficked by various ways in our country.
It is not only a local but also an international problem now a day. Being trafficked by agent, men, women & children has fraud every day & lost everything. The misuse of technology is highly responsible for trafficking, he added.
Attending the event as the chief guest, Md. Sohidul Islam Khan, said that trafficking is a common issue in everywhere in Bangladesh. We should follow the rules migration to prevent trafficking. Awareness raising is a fruitful way of reduce trafficking.
Md. Abdul Based, UP member of Jamuria Union Parishod was present as the special guest. He said in his speech that we all should play effective roles in combating trafficking.
Mr. James Sunny Bairagee, Program Officer of EPJIA project facilitated the program. He said in his speech that every day a huge number of people are being trafficking by various ways. Now a day, most of the people of developed countries misuse their technology in the war.
As a result, Millions of people globally are suffering because of this serious crime, and it is those most marginalized who are most affected. Two factors are working in trafficking PULL factors & PUSH factors. Traffickers exploit others for a variety of purposes such as sexual exploitation, forced labour & forced marriage. He also requested the entire participant to work together to protect trafficking in their community.
World Concern staffs, civil society, CPC members & community leaders also attended this program & promise to prevent trafficking at any cost. They also promise to proper use of technology for combating trafficking.
