Caritas Bangladesh’s WASH project inception meeting held

Ukhiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Imran Hossain Sajib on Wednesday urged the Non-government Organizations (NGOs) to reach services related to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) to the community people and conduct awareness activities.
He made these remarks while attending as the chief guest at a project inception meeting at Ukhiya Upazila office arranged by the Emergency Response Program (ERP) of Caritas Bangladesh under the FD-7 (79) which is supported by Caritas Spain, AECID.
The project titled ‘Water, Sanitation and Hygiene support to the Rohingya population and Bangladeshi host communities’ is providing WASH-related services to 2,214 families of Rohingya community in Camp 4 and Camp-17 and 300 families of the host community in Jaliapalong union of Ukhiya Upazila in Cox’s Bazar. 
Md. Abdullah Fuad, Head of Program (HoP), ERP, Caritas Bangladesh, presented the project details with project objectives. The participants of the inception meeting also discussed various subjects related to the project in an open session.
Thanking Caritas Bangladesh for implementing WASH project in his area, Ukhiya UNO Imran Hossain Sajib urged the project implementers to maintain quality of every activities and to cooperate the community people.
UNO also urged Caritas Bangladesh to work in establishing water networking with centralized water tank, and constructing community latrine besides latrine for individual families with awareness sign in Bengali language. “The people living by the forest area are needy,” said the UNO and urged Caritas Bangladesh to add Ward-7 in the project area.
S.M Sayed Alom, Chairman, Ukhiya Upazila; Md. Azizul Haque, Jaliapalong Union Member, Ward- 2; Md. Abul kalam, Jaliapalong UP Member, Ward- 4; Md. Kamal Hosaain, UP Member, Ward- 9; Md. A-Mamun, PTO, Ukhia Upazila; Al Mohamud Hossain, USSO, Ukhia Upazila among others were present as special guests at the program.
The meeting was conducted by Md Shariful Islam, Manager, DRR, ERP, CB which was attended by Caritas Bangladesh’s staff Pius Nanuar, Manager, WASH, ERP, CB; Samiul Chowdhury, Project Coordinator; Alex Samuel Baroi, MEAL Officer and project Supervisor and others.
