Russian Embassy in the US called US Department of State’s claims of Moscow’s involvement in cyberattacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure absurd, and underscored that Russia is ready for an equal, professional and non-politicized dialogue with the US on informational security.

“We noted the Department of State’s statement regarding Russia’s alleged involvement in cyberattacks on Ukrainian critical infrastructure objects. Such claims are absurd and detached from reality. Our country has never engaged in cyber aggression. This contradicts Russia’s principal position,” the embassy said in its statement.

“We are committed to use of information and communications technologies solely for the benefit of development of the global community,” the embassy said.

According to the Russian diplomats, “Russia is ready for an equal, professional and non-politicized dialogue with the US on a wide array of pressing issues of informational security.”

“We keep channels for practical cooperation open. Our American colleagues are aware of that,” the embassy said.

The embassy noted that “the Department of State is unwilling to admit that the US is one of the main sources of global cyber threats.”

“The US territory contributed to the most computer attacks on critical infrastructure objects in other states, including Russia. In the past six months alone, our relevant agencies sent about 500 notifications of malicious activity from the US territory,” the Russian embassy noted.
