12th congress of CPB begins

The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) commenced its historic 12th congress in the capital from Friday.

The activities of congress was started at the Mahanagar Natyamancha in city’s Gulistan area through hoisting the national flag and the party flag around 10 am.

CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim and general secretary Mohammad Shah Alam hoisted the national flag and the party flag respectively.

Following the inaugural assembly, the organizational session will start at 3 pm at Kazi Bashir Auditorium (Mahanagar Natyamancha) in city’s Gulistan area and it will continue till the afternoon of February 28.

The last session of the congress will elect the central committee and control commission for the next 4 years and the Jatiya Parishad will also be declared.

Party-spokespersons will give press briefings at the media center at 4 pm every day during the congress.

The CPB arranged its 11th congress in the capital in 2016.

Since its inception, the CPB has been playing a unique role in all democratic movement including the Language Movement, the War of Liberation, the anti-autocracy movement, anti communalism and imperialism movement, the movement for protecting the national resources, the movement for trial of war criminals and the movement for banning Jamaat-Shibir.
