Beneficiaries of 1/11 become active with BNP again: Hasan

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the beneficiaries of 1/11 have become active along with BNP again.

“The emergency government came to power on 1/11 for two years due to misrule and corruption of BNP. That time, Dr Kamal Hossain gave a certificate to the government (emergency) — ‘stay in power as long as you want’. ‘Suajn’ was also with them,” he said.

The minister added: “The beneficiaries of 1/11 have become active again and they are doing online meetings and hatching conspiracies.

They are spreading confusion. And it is an ominous sign. Awami League leaders and activists will face the conspiracies in together with the countrymen.”

He was addressing the triennial conference of Awami League Natore district unit at Gobinda Chanda Chowdhury Stadium here.

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader addressed the conference as the chief guest while AL Presidium Member Abdur Rahman inaugurated it.

AL Presidium Member and Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Litan, AL organising secretary SM Kamal Hossain, health secretary Rokeya Sultana, state minister of Information and Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, lawmakers Shahidul Islam Bakul and Ratna Ahmed, AL executive member Merina Jahan and Barind Multipurpose Development Authority Begum Akthar Jahan, among others, addressed the conference.

AL district unit president Professor Abdul Quddus, MP, presided over the conference while its general secretary Shafiqul Islam Shimul, MP, conducted it.

Hasan said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman encouraged the people and achieved the independence in exchange of blood of people of all faiths. After the freedom, he had devoted himself to the nation-building tasks, he added.

The minister said Bangabandhu was leading the country on the path of prosperity after bringing back one crore homeless people from India. And there were another two crore refugees inside the country and the communication system was collapsed, he added.

He said when Bangabandhu was assassinated in 1975, the country’s GDP growth was 7.4 percent. Now, the country is marching ahead under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said about three crore people have become under social security policy and the government is providing houses to distressed people. The Awami League government has established Islami Arabic University and model mosques at every district and upazila levels, he added.

The minister said the responsible persons of about two lakh
mosque-based maktabs are given Taka 5,200 as allowance. The
construction works of the much-awaited Padma Bridge have been completed almost and the nation is waiting for inauguration of the bridge, he added.

He said the government is able to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic successfully for the far-sighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. About 17 crore people of the country came under vaccination and more one crore people will come under vaccination on February 26, he added.

On the other hand, Hasan said, BNP is busy with spreading confusion and propaganda. The BNP leaders including Mirza Fakfrul Islam Alamgir tried to create confusion among the countrymen about the vaccine, he added.

He said the global community including the World Health
Organisation and the United Nations are praising the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in combating the COVID-19 epidemic.
