95.26 pc pass HSC exams, 1,89,169 get GPA-5

On an average 95.26 percent of the examinees passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations-2021 held under 11 education boards of the country.

“Of them, a total of 1,89,169 candidates got GPA-5 (maximum grade point average) in the examinations.” Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni told a press conference at International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) here today.

Among the total examinees, 13,06,718 students have been successful in the HSC and equivalent examinations-2021, she said adding a total of 13,71,681 students appeared in the HSC and equivalent examinations.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today unveiled the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations results.

Releasing the results of 11 educational boards, she said today’s students will be the future of the country.

Prime Minister joined the result handover and publishing ceremony virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban here. The event took place at International Mother Language Institute auditorium in the capital.

Speaking at the programme, the education minister said the assessments were performed on six papers from an abbreviated syllabus of three elective subjects while compulsory subjects, such as Bangla and English, were assessed based on students’ performance in previous public exams.

The exams were delayed by about eight months from their usual schedule because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, she added.

Dipu Moni said, “A total of 1,89,169 students got the highest
Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the HSC and equivalent examinations 2021 under 11 education boards, which was 1,61,807 in 2020.”

Among the GPA-5 holders, 86,763 are male students and 1,02,406 are female, she added.

A total of 1,78,522 students achieved GPA-5 under nine general education boards, 4,872 students under madrasah education board and 5,775 under technical education board.

A total of 4,872 students got the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in the Alim examinations-2021 under Madrasah education board, which was 4,048 in 2020.

According to the results, among the examinees, 1,01,768 students have been successful in the Madrasah board. A total of 1,06,579 students appeared in the examinations-2021 under Madrasah board.

Of the total successful students, the percentage of GPA-5 holders is 4.57, it added.

A total of 1,934 educational institutions out of 9,111 achieved 100 percent pass in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations-2021 across the country which was 9,063 in 2020.

Of those, 176 institutions are from Dhaka Board, 162 from Rajshahi Board, 75 from Cumilla Board, 116 from Jashore Board, 16 from Chattagram Board, 56 from Barishal Board, 53 from Sylhet Board, 53 from Dinajpur Board and 29 from Mymensingh Board, while the number of hundred percent successful institutions under Madrasa Board is 1,003.

Students of five colleges and madrasas under three education boards out of 11 failed to come out successful in the HSC and equivalent examinations-2021.

According to the HSC results published here today, the number of zero pass rate institutions is two in Chattogram, two in Dinajpur Board and one in Mymensingh Board.

Jashore Board has secured the top position among nine general educational boards with 98.11 percent pass rate in the HSC examinations held in 2021.

The pass rate of Rajshahi Board is 97.29 percent, while it is 96.20 percent in Dhaka Board, 97.49 percent in Cumilla Board, 89.39 percent in Chattogram Board, 94.80 percent in Sylhet Board, 90.43 percent in Dinajpur Board and 95.71 percent in Mymensingh Board.

A total of 11,15,705 students appeared in the examinations at nine general education boards held in 2021. Among them, 10,66,242 students have been successful in the HSC examinations.

Students under Chattogram Education Board performed poor in terms of pass rate in HSC examinations-2021 out of nine general education boards with 89.39 percent pass rate.

As many as 264 students of eight overseas centres came out successful in the HSC examinations-2021 with 98.88 percent pass rate.

A total of 267 students appeared in the examinations from the overseas centres. Of the successful students, 92 got GPA-5.
