16 families of host community get new house in Chakaria

The Emergency Response Program (ERP) of Caritas Bangladesh has handed over 16 newly-built houses to 16 families of the host community in Chakaria Upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday (8 February 2022).

Chakaria Upazila Upazila Nirbahi Officer J P Dewan along with ERP’s Project Director Mr Marcel Ratan Guda and ERP’s Head of Operation Mr Inmanuel Chayan Biswas has handed over the complete houses to the beneficiaries.

Thanking Caritas Bangladesh, Chakaria UNO J P Dewan, said “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s dream is to provide houses to all homeless in Bangladesh.”

ERP Director Mr Marcel Ratan Guda said “Caritas Bangladesh has been working in this country for over five decades for the most vulnerable communities in society.”

The houses have been built under a project titled ‘Caritas response to the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals and host community in Bangladesh.”

Kazi Mobassher, who received a new house in Chakaria, said “A new phase of my life has started through this new house. I have stepped forward with financially, socially, mentally and physically as well.”

Md Abu Taher, Area Coordinator, ERP, CB; Mr Paritosh Chakrabarty, Camp Coordinator, ERP, CB among others were present.

Caritas Bangladesh has been working for the vulnerable host community people beside helping the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs).
