Bangladesh reports 13,501 fresh cases, 31 deaths from Covid-19


Bangladesh on Monday reported 13,501 Covid-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 31 lives.

“The country reported 29.77 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 45,358 samples were tested in the past 24 hours,” Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.

In the past 24 hours, the combined figure of coronavirus in Dhaka city and upazilas of the district is 7,283 while fourteen Covid-19 deaths were reported during the period.

The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,394 people and infected 17,98,833 so far, the statement added.

The recovery count rose to 15,68,213 after another 2,568 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 87.18 percent Covid-19 patientsp recovered among the infected people while 1.58 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

The DGHS said among the total 28,394 fatalities, 12,432 occurred in Dhaka division, 5,749 in Chattogram, 2,081 in Rajshahi, 3,637 in Khulna, 959 in Barishal, 1,288 in Sylhet, 1,383 in Rangpur and 865 in Mymensingh divisions.
