Encourage community people to ensure safe space for girls, children: CiC, 4 Extension

Community people need to be encouraged to ensure safe place for their children and girls in camp area, said Md Shahjahan, Camp-in-Charge of Camp 4 Extension for the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) at Ukhiya upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

“This is a happy day for children as they get new cloths. I urge Caritas Bangladesh to continue this support for children and adolescents at camps and encourage community people to ensure safe place for children and girls in Camp area,” he said.

Md Shahjahan made these comments as the chief guest at an event titled “Distribution of Cloth Among Children” arranged by Caritas Bangladesh at Camp-4ext. Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar on Sunday (23 January 2022).

The event was attended by Mr. Marcel Ratan Guda, Project Director, Emergency Response Program (ERP), Caritas Bangladesh; Md Mosharraf Hossain, Manager Protection, ERP; Mr. Shawon, Deputy Camp Coordinator, Site Management; Ananda Kumar Biswas, Child Protection Coordinator, ERP; block leaders, parents and caregivers among others.

Mr. Marcel Ratan Guda, PD, ERP, said “Caritas Bangladesh always tries to provide quality services through different projects in a coordinated way by following rules and regulations of Bangladesh government.”

Cloth distribution is going on with the support from Caritas Danmark and Caritas Japan, said Mr Marcel Ratan Guda adding that “We thank the CiC for his continuous support, suggestions. Caritas Bangladesh will try to provide new cloths among children in the whole camp area in the next phase and keep it in mind while planning project next time.”

Caritas Bangladesh want the children and their families happy as they look today, he added.

Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Manager, Protection, said “We have initiated to provide new dresses among children from 4 to 18 years at Block-B, Camp-4 Ext.”

Caritas Bangladesh distributed new cloths among 110 girls and 4 boys on Sunday Protection Manager informed adding that gradually 664 children at Camp 4 Extension will get new cloths under this project.

Md. Mosharraf Hossain also informed that Caritas Bangladesh will try to distribute new cloths among all children of all working areas gradually.
