Nation to celebrate Digital Bangladesh Day Sunday

The 5th ‘Digital Bangladesh Day-2021’ will be celebrated through various programmes in the country and Bangladesh missions abroad on Sunday.

With the theme ‘Digital Bangladesh-er Orjon, Upokrito Sokol Jonogon’, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division has chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the day.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the main programme of the day and address the prize-giving ceremony virtually at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) from her Ganabhaban residence at 10am.

The day’s programme, however, will begin with paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his portrait at Dhanmondi 32 in the city at 7 am tomorrow.

State Minister ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak will be present on the occasion as the chief guest.

Later, a colorful rally led by Palak will be brought out from the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad maintaining the social distancing at 8 am and it will end coming at the Khamarbari crossing.

A national seminar titled “Digital Bangladesh-er Orjon, Upokrito Sokol Jonogon (achievements of Digital Bangladesh: benefit all people” will be held at the BICC at 3 pm while Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq will address it as the chief guest.

In the afternoon, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal will inaugurate a Digital Lab at United International University (UIU) in the city’s Badda area and address a concert there at 5pm.

The day’s programmes also will include arranging online quiz competition centrally. Essay writing competitions, poetry recitation and painting competitions based on Digital Bangladesh also will be organized at upazila and district levels across the country.

Marking the day, different national dailies will publish supplements highlighting the successes and achievements of twelve years in building the Digital Bangladesh.
