Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Friday said compassion cannot be achieved through agitation.

“Recently 15 lawyers came to me to let BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia go abroad for treatment. I told them that my decision of dismissing the similar plea was correct. Yet, I sought a little time to learn whether there are any instances in support of their demand. But seeing me seeking time, they (BNP) are threatening to raise agitation. I would like to say, compassion cannot be achieved through agitation,” he said.

The minister said this while addressing a program to distribute blankets at Advocate Sirajul Huq municipality ground organised by Akhaura Municipality unit of Awami League. The minister later distributed blankets among cold-stricken poor and distressed people of the upazilla.

Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwer, deputy commissioner Hayat Ud Doula Khan, superintendant of police Md Anisur Rahman, Akhaura Municipality Mayor Takzil Khalifa, Akhaura upazilla nirbahi officer Romana Akter and upazilla Awami League convener Joynal Abedin attended the program, among others.
