Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday said BNP was born through killing people and its founder Zia killed hundreds of armed forces officers and soldiers to cling to power.

“The family members of air force who were killed by Zia, held a meeting demanding a posthumous trial of Zia. BNP’s founder Ziaur Rahman killed hundreds of armed forces officials and soldiers to prolong his stay in power,” he said.

The minister stated this while addressing a discussion and food items distribution function organised by Association of Human Development Programme marking the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Jurain Rail Gate in the capital.

Hasan said BNP leaders including Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Gayeshwar Roy talk lofty. But their BNP is a party of killers, he added.

The minister said the BNP leaders will be ashamed one day when the mask of Zia will be exposed more. On the other hand, Awami League is a party of hard-working people, said Hasan, also AL joint general secretary.

He said Awami League is not a party of those people who wear suit-coat like Ershad or safari-coat like Zia. Awami League is a party of poor and hard-working people and its President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the leader of common people, he added.

AL Kadamtali Tana unit president Mohammad Nasim Mia, 54 No. ward AL president Freedom Fighter Liakat Mufti and Dhaka Zila Parishad member Md Alamgir Hossain, among others, addressed the meeting with the organization founder Dr Md Awlad Hossain in the chair.
