Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana released 416 kg fish fry in the open water of Boiragir canal under Gopalganj municipality, Golabaria canal in Durgapur union and Kathi canal under Kathi union in the district on Tuesday.
Fish fry was released in 3 spots in the district under the arrangement and management of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Fisheries Department.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Rashedur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Mahbubul Islam, Assistant Commissioner Md. Mamun Khan, District Fisheries Officer (Acting) Prashanta Kumar Sarkar, Senior Sadar Upazila Fisheries Officer Anjan Biswas were present.
Later, at the request of a local fisherman, DC Shahida Sultana directed the concerned administration to take necessary steps to rescue the endangered China magic net from all open water bodies including every beel-baor-canal in Gopalganj.
