10 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine arrive in Bangladesh

A total of 10 lakh doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 5:30 pm today.

Secretary of Health Service Division Lokman Hosen Mian and the US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller received the consignment at the airport, said Maidul Islam, public relations officer of the health ministry.

On September 1 (today), Bangladesh got 10 lakh Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines out of 60 lakh and remaining 50 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine will arrive in phases by this month, the health ministry sources said.

On May 27, the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) approved emergency use of Pfizer mRNA Covid-19 vaccine in the country.

Bangladesh has so far approved eight COVID-19 vaccines to control the deadly disease.

The approved COVID-19 vaccines are from Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, CoronaVac, Pfizer, Covishield, Sputnik V, AstraZeneca and Sinopharm.
