National Fisheries Week-2021 observed in Gopalganj

On the occasion of National Fisheries Week-2021 in Gopalganj, an exchange meeting was held with the journalists of printing and electronics media working in Gopalganj on Saturday morning at the conference room of the District Fisheries Officer’s Office considering the theme “Cultivate more & more fish, eliminate unemployment”.
The meeting was chaired by District Fisheries Officer Biswajit Boiragi.

SM Ashikur Rahman, Project Director, Conservation and development project of native species of fish and snails, Prashant Kumar Sarkar, Senior Assistant Fisheries Officer, Anjan Biswas, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer, Sadar, Aslam Hossain Sheikh, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Conservation and development project of native species of fish and snails, Md. Waheed Al Masum, Sub Assistant Director were present.

District Fisheries Officer Biswajit Boiragi informed that in addition to our routine activities, inaugural program of the National Fisheries Week dated August 26 to September 3, 2021 through video conferencing will be held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference room, release of fish in the reservoir adjacent to Gopalganj helipad, Display of documentary on the progress and success of the present government in the fisheries sector at Gopalganj City fish bazar area, exchange of views with marginal level fish farmers and fishermen in the conference room of the District Fisheries Officer’s Office, following the hygiene rules, Provide special advice to farmers on fish farming, soil and water testing of ponds at the venue of Ulpur UP Office & Roghunathpur Gayali Chandra High School, Distribution of various fish farming equipments among the beneficiaries in the office of District Fisheries Officer, fishing competition by fishing in the reservoir adjacent to Gopalganj Helipad, exchange with district level officials through video conferencing, distribution of prizes and conclusion of Fisheries Week etc. will be implemented.

In this time, SM Ashikur Rahman, Project Director, Conservation and development project of native species of fish and snails, gave a brief overview of the project.
