Two killed in separate incidents in Nakla

Two killed in separate incidents in Nakla of Sherpur district on Sunday. A mother of three children named Nilufa Yasmin (35) was bitten by a snake and a child named Ibrahim drowned in a pond.

A snake bite took place in Jangirarpar area of Pathakata union of the upazila and a tragic incident of drowning in Bausa area of Baneshwardi union.

The deceased were identified as Nilufa Yasmin, wife of Ayatollah of Jangirarpar area of Pathakata union under Nakla upazila and Ibrahim, son of Enar Uddin of Taltola area of Nalitabari.

According to local sources, Nilufa Yasmin was bitten by a poisonous snake on Sunday afternoon. Later, the family members rescued the housewife and took her to Nakla Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty at the emergency department sent Nilufa Yasmin to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Nilufa Yasmin died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital around 9pm.

Pathakata Union Chairman Mohammad Fayez Millat confirmed the incident.

On the other hand, the uncle of the deceased child Shipon Mia said, Ibrahim has been living in our house (Bausa) since birth. He has been admitted to the children’s class of a local school. Ibrahim eats breakfast every day and goes out to play. After that, Ibrahim did not come home even after noon. So we start looking for possible places. We suspect Ibrahim may have fallen into the pond. With that suspicion, many of us went down to the pond and started searching. At one point in the search, Ibrahim was rescued from the water. Upon receiving the news, the police of Nakla police station took Ibrahim’s body to the police station around 8 pm.

Baneshwardi UP Chairman Mazharul Anwar Mohabbat and Nakla Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mushfiqur Rahman confirmed the incident.

OC Mushfiqur Rahman said an unnatural death case has been filed at Nakla police station in this regard. He said Ibrahim’s body was sent to Sherpur Sadar Hospital for autopsy on Monday noon.
