The 46th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been observed in Chitalmari with due dignity through various programs. 
Upazila Parishad Chairman Ashok Kumar Baral, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Liton Ali, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jannatul Afroz Swarna, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Mamun Hasan, Officer-in-Charge(OC) AHM Kamruzzaman Khan, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Sheikh Mahatabuzzaman, Women Vice Chairman Sabera Begum Swapna, government officials of various departments including Sonali Bank and leaders of Upazila Awami League and allied organizations paid homage to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the upazila premises at 10 am on Sunday. 
Earlier, the day was observed at 9 am with various programs at the party office on the initiative of Upazila Awami League and its allies and fraternal organizations. Among these programs were hoisting of the national and party flags, prayers and discussion meetings.
Presided over by Md. Babul Hossain Khan, in the meeting among others General Secretary Piyush Kanti Roy, Vice President Sheikh Nizam Uddin, Sheikh Bellal Hossain, Convener of Juba League Mohammad Sheikh Nazrul Islam, Upazila Chhatra League President Mohammad Riajul Islam Riad, General Secretary Robin Hira and leaders and workers of different levels were present at the time.
