Farmers training held, seeds distributed in Sherpur

A day-long non-group farmers training workshop was held and different vegetable seeds were distributed to the trainee farmers in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district on Thursday afternoon.

The training workshop and seed were assisted by the crop density enhancement project of the greater Mymensingh region. A total of 30 farmers from different areas of the upazila attended the training.

The training was organized by the Nakla upazila agriculture office under the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) at the farmers training room of Nakla by maintaining safe social and physical distance and ensuring 100% wearing of masks as per the instructions of the government.

Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) Agriculturist Abdul Wadud, Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Agriculturist Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni and Agriculturist Mahmudul Hasan Musa were the trainers of the day-long training workshop.

At the end of the training, 7 types of vegetable seeds were distributed among the farmers of the upazila, financially supported by the crop density enhancement project of greater Mymensingh region.

District Training Officer Agriculturist Sultan Ahammed presided over the tanning workshop and seed distribution program, when Additional Director (AD) of Mymensingh Region Agriculturist Md Abdul Mazed was present as the chief guest.

Deputy Director (DD) of Sherpur farm house Dr Mohit Kumar Dey, regional director of the crop density enhancement project of greater Mymensingh region Agriculturist Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, Additional Deputy Director (ADD Horticulture) of Sherpur farm house Agriculturist Shakhawat Hossain, Agriculturist Mostafa Kamal deputy project director and Agriculturist Nazmul Hasan monitoring officer of the crop density enhancement project of greater Mymensingh region were present as special guest.

Among others, Sub Assistant Plant Protection Officer (SAPPO) Fakir Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, officials of the Nakla upazila agriculture office and trainees farmers from different areas of the upazila were present. Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) Agriculturist Abdul Wadud conducted the program.

The speakers discussed in detail about crop density in the greater Mymensingh region. They also discussed the duties of farmers and agriculture officers including providing necessary and comprehensive advice to the farmers in order to increase the production of agricultural products in the region.
