Four people were killed and four other agricultural workers were injured in separate incidents of lightning strike in Sherpur district on Wednesday noon.
A farmer named Azizul Haque (36) was killed, he is son of Badiuzzaman, village of Lava under Nakla municipality; and two other workers Humayun Kabir (30), son of Muktar Mia and Babu Mia, son of Abdus Salam of the same area were injured in the Nakla upazila.
Besides, an agricultural worker named Mostafa (40), son of Abdul Khalek, village of Krishnapur Doripara under Lasampur union was killed and two other workers named Badu Mia (35), son of and Abu Sayed (34), son of Jusna Mia of the same area were injured in Sherpur sadar upazila.
On the other hand, a youth named Akram Hossain (15), son of Abdul Hamid, village of Gosaipur under Shribarddi upazila and a youth Rasel Mia (14), son of Abdul Hamid, village of Maligkanda Isamaripara under Jhenighati upazila of Sherpur district were also killed hit by a thunderbolt while they were working at their filed on the day noon.
According to locals and family sources, Nakla’s Azizul Haque was killed on the spot and two others were injured when lightning struck, while they were planting aman paddy saplings in Lava field. After the locals rescued him and took to Nakla Hospital, the doctor working in the emergency department declared Azizul Haque dead and admitted the injured to Nakla Hospital.
Sherpur’s Mostafa was killed on the spot and two others were injured when lightning struck, while they were planting aman paddy saplings in Krishnapur Doripara field. After the locals rescued him and took to Sherpur Sader Hospital, the doctor declared Mostafa dead and the injured were admitted to Sherpur Sadar Hospital.
