Bangamata’s birth anniversary observed in Sherpur: Sewing machines, cash aid distributed

Like the rest of the country, on the occasion of the 91st birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, sewing machines and cash aid were distributed among women trainees and entrepreneurs in Sherpur district on Sunday.

District and upazila Administratio, Awami League (AL) observed the day through holding meetings, Milads and Doa Mahfils at respective offices.

The anniversary was observed through a day-long programme elsewhere in the district and upazila maintaining health rules.

Special meetings on the great lady were held in different educational institutions including schools, colleges and Madrasas in a virtual manner, where member of managing committee, teachers and students were participated in the discussion meeting. They were highlighted life and works of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib.

As part of, a live video conference with PM Sheikh Hasina, discussion meeting, distribution of sewing machines among the trainees and distribution of cash aid among the entrepreneurs at the initiative of the Department of Women’s Affairs and the Sonali Bank in Nakla upazila of Sherpur.

The program was jointly organized by the Department of Upazila Administration and Women’s Affairs office of Nakla. The program was held at upazila auditorium hall room of Nakla.

Upazila Nibarhi Officer (UNO) Zahidur Rahman presided over the program, where Upazila Parishad Chairman Shah Md Burhan Uddin was present as the chief guest.

Among others, GS of Upazila Awami League FF Shafiqul Islam Zinnah, Upazila Parishad Vice-chairman Saroar Alam Talukder, Senior Vice-president of Upazila AL Ambia Khatun, Joint Secretary and Mayor of the Municipality Hafizur Rahman Liton, President of Bangabandhu Education and Research Council Nakla Upazila Branch Majibar Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawsar Ahammed, Upazila Engineer Arefin Parvez, UAO Agriculturist Abdul Wadud, EO Tareq Aziz,UYDO Makbull Hossain, Upazila Acting Information Officer Saimon Shahanaz, Upazila AL Vice-president Ferdousur Rahman Jowel, Office Secretary Khalilur Rahman, Publicity Secretary Abdur Rashid Sarkar, Member Indrajith Dhar Suvash, PIO Jahangir Alam, USSO Alamgir Hossain, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Rumana Yeasmin, Nakla Police Station SI Rajib Bhowmik, Nakla Press Club Organizing Secretary Nur Hossain and others, officers of different departments, leaders of AL, women entrepreneurs of different areas were present.

Speakers said that the majestic woman Bangamat Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib has become an integral part of the history of the Bengali nation through her great deeds. Being a constant shadow in Bangabandhu’s turbulent political life, she played a key role in determining advice, counseling political tactics to overcome hurdle times and constantly inspired Bangabandhu not to get upset during his long uneven struggle for independence. Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib dedicated her entire life for the people. “We have learned many things about politics from the life of the great lady”, they added.

After the video conference live broadcast and discussion meeting, the guests handed over a sewing machine among 7 women trainees and Tk 2,000 cash aid among 6 entrepreneurs per women; and also handed over incentive checks to 10 men-women at the initiative of the Sonali Bank.
