COVID-19: Mass vaccination begins in Gopalganj; DC visits various centers

The mass vaccination activity has started in 5 upazilas of Gopalganj district to prevent COVID-19 pandemic as elsewhere in the country on Saturday, confirmed the District Health Department.

Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana has visited a couple of vaccination centers in the district to inspect the activities on the very first day of the campaign.

She visited vaccination centers at Chandradighalia, Paikkandi, Latifpur and Gopinathpur Unions of Sadar Upazila from Saturday morning to afternoon.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Rashedur Rahman, Executive Magistrate Milon Saha, Sadar Upazila Awami League General Secretary Rafiqul Islam Mitu and others were present.

Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana said, “The mass vaccination program for protection from Corona started from today. In this campaign, one center has been set up in each of the former wards of each of our unions and there are 3 booths and 200 people in each booth – 600 people will be covered from each center under this vaccination program.”

She also said that the elderly and women are being vaccinated on a priority basis. These vaccines will reach all the citizens of Bangladesh in phases, we request the citizens of our district, during this time everyone should follow the hygiene rules, wear a mask and take his vaccine peacefully in time.

If everyone cooperates, then society will be safe just as you will be safe, the DC added.

It is mentioned that under this program, a total of 120,000 people of 6 Upazilas and 4 Municipalities of the district are being vaccinated.
