The 80th death anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore is being observed today amid the pandemic situation through various online events.
Different institutions have been observing Tagore’s death anniversary with online programmes featuring performances by noted Rabindra Sangeet singers, recitations, and discussions.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised an online programme comprising cultural performances and a discussion. The programme will be streamed live on its Facebook page, starting from 10 am.
Bangla Academy also will organise a programme featuring discussions and Tagore songs. It will be streamed live on Bangla Academy’s Facebook page at 4:00pm.
Director General of Bangla Academy Mohammad Nurul Huda will give the welcome speech and State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid will be present as chief guest at the programme.
Besides, Selina Hossain, Begum Akhter Kamal, and Anik Mahmud will be present at the event, which will be presided over by National Professor Rafiqul Islam.
Chhayanaut will organise a virtual programme comprising recorded videos of Tagore songs rendered by its artistes. The online programme, titled “Shrabaner Amantrane”, will be streamed live on Chhayanaut’s Facebook page and YouTube channel at 9:00pm.
Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi will stream a live programme on its Facebook page at 7:30pm. The online event will feature songs, dances, recitations and discussions.
Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam, Azizul Huq, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi General Secretary Jamshed Anwar Tapan and Assistant General Secretary Iqbalul Haque Khan will attend the event.
Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad will stream a virtual programme on its Facebook page on Saturday at 8:00pm. The event will feature Tagore songs and a discussion.
Singer Roquaiya Hasina, Khairuzzaman Kaiyum and Soma Rani Ray will entertain viewers with Tagore songs and Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad President Tapan Mahmud will be present as a discussant at the event.
Different TV channels will telecast special programmes marking Tagore’s death anniversary.
