Sheikh Kamal’s 72nd birth anniversary observed in Sherpur

The 72nd birth anniversary of Captain martyred heroic FF Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was celebrated all over the country on 5 August Thursday. On the occasion, different programs were held in all upazila (5 upazila) of Sherpur district on the day long.

District and upazila administration, Upazila AL, its associate bodies and different political, socio-cultural and sports organizations drew up elaborate programmers marking the day.

Among the programs announced throughout the day are wreath-laying at the portrait of the heroic FF Captain Sheikh Kamal, virtual discussion meetings and commemoration ceremonies, enjoy live Sheikh Kamal Sports Council award ceremony on YouTube, screening of documentary on the life of Sheikh Kamal, saplings distribution implementation upazila administration and youth developed office of Nakla, special prayer included recitation from the Holy Quran implementation of Islamic Foundation and all mosque committees after Zuhr or at convenient times etc.

Nakal Upazila Administration, Upazila Parishad, leaders of different levels of upazila AL, JL and others, officers of different departments, teachers, journalists of different media and civil society participated in the program. Nakla Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zahidur Rahman moderated the program.

UNO Zahidur Rahman remarked on the life of FF Sheikh Kamal. He said that Captain martyred heroic FF Sheikh Kamal was not only a valiant freedom fighter but also the architect of modern sports in Bangladesh and a cultural personality. While highlighting Bangladesh’s impressive success in the field of sports and culture at home and abroad, the UNO added that FF Sheikh Kamal’s passion and contribution will continue to inspire the younger generation in future. He also touched on Mission’s year-long program to celebrate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation in this regard. He was one of the pioneers of modern football in Bangladesh and also founder-president of Abahani Krira Chakra. He was martyred on August 15, 1975 at the age of 26.
