The 72nd Birth Anniversary of martyr Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, was celebrated in Chitalmari of Bagerhat district as elsewhere in the country.
On this occasion, homage was paid on the portrait of Sheikh Kamal at 10 am on Thursday (August 5) at the initiative of the Upazila Administration, and a virtual discussion meeting also was organized at 10:30 am at the Upazila Parishad Seminar Hall.
The discussion meeting was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer(UNO) Md. Liton Ali and was attended by Upazila Parishad Chairman Ashok Kumar Baral, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jannatul Afroz Swarna, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mamun Hasan, Upazila Awami League President Md. Babul Hossain Khan, General Secretary Piyush Kanti Roy, heroic freedom fighters, political leaders and heads of different departments of the upazila.
On the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of martyr Sheikh Kamal, tree saplings were distributed among various individuals and organizations.
