The Sherpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Mominur Rashid inspected the canal excavation work in Kurikahnia area under Shreebardi upazila of Sherpur district on Monday afternoon.
The DC Md Mominur Rashid inspected the excavation of a 2 km canal of Kurikahnia-Kalidah Sagar area near Kurikahnia Bazar of the upazila. DC expressed satisfaction over the canal excavation work.
Upazila Parishad Chairman ADM Shahidul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nilufa Akter, Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) of Jamalpur Region Executive Engineer Abu Ahmed Mahmudul Hasan Nipu, BADC Sherpur Zone Assistant Engineer (Small Irrigation) Mehedi Al Baki, BADC Shreebardi (Small Irrigation) Altaf Hossain, General Secretary of Sherpur Press Club Md Meraj Uddin, Kurikahnia Union Parishad Chairman Noor Alam, journalists of different media, local political leaders and others were present during the visit.
It is learned that, M/S Alamgir Enterprise, a contractor company from Mymensingh, has started excavation work of the canal at a cost of Tk 1,965,960 by Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation.
After inspecting the canal excavation work DC Md Mominur Rashid visited Kurikahnia union land office. He gave some directions for the construction of a new building for the union land office. Later, a brief discussion meeting was held in the office room at Kurikahnia South Kurua High School of the upazila.
