Poor man brutally killed in Khulna: Locals form human chain seeking justice

A poor fish trader was killed by his opponent over prior enmity and land dispute on April 21 (Wednesday) in Kushla Uttar Para village of Chagladaha union under Terkhada upazila in Khulna district. Meanwhile, a case was filed against accused Hannan Mir Gang.

The deceased was identified as Inshan Mir, 49, son of late Hanif Ali Mir of Terkhada upazila.

According to case details, on Wednesday, April 21, at around 4.30 pm, murder accused Hannan Mir, Deen Islam with eight others associates hit Inshan Mir on the left side of the chest with a rod and hammer on the road near Inshan Mir’s son’s shop.

The accused ten ‘murderer’s also injured victim’s son Inshan Mir’s since he came forward to save his father and left the spot immediately.

Hearing the scream of Inshan Mir’s son scream, people rushed to the spot and took severely injured Inshan Mir to Terkhada Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead.

Mohammad Shakib Mir, son of the deceased Inshan Mir, filed a murder case against Hannan Mir, 58, and 9 other people at Terkhada Police Station against on April 22 (Thursday). Case No. 6, dated 22.06.2021.

The other accused are Deen Islam (26), Rahmat Mir (25), Nur Islam Mir (26), Emon Mir (20), Mahmud Sheikh (60), Chhotan Sheikh (26), Nizam Sheikh (56) and Majnu Sheikh (26). 46), and Razina Begum (25).

The victim’s son Shakib Mir (21) told this reporter in tears, “My father was an innocent poor man, he used to trade fish, he had a good reputation in the area. But on the day of Eid-ul-Azha, my father was murdered brutally in front of me near my shop. He was hit hard on his left chest and later was stabbed and severely injured.”

Shakib Mir also said that, “We want the execution of Hannan Mir and his brutal associates for killing my father, so that no one else becomes an orphan like us.” The victim’s son added that he could not look at the faces of his two younger sisters and his mother. How will the family?

“My life is in danger as well because they can kill me too for filing case against them” said Shakib Mir adding that “I am single and have two younger sisters. The youngest sister of only 6 years old who slept on her father’s lap. Now my younger sister is constantly crying.”

Shafiqul Islam, Sub-inspector (SI), Terakhada Police Station, also the investigating officer of the case, told this correspondent that two accused in the case of Inshan Mir’s murder were arrested and police are trying to arrest the other alleged murderers. However, the identities of those arrested have not been known yet.

Meanwhile, the locals protested against the brutal murder and demanded justice. They demanded that those responsible for the killings be brought to justice as soon as possible.
