146 more people test positive for COVID-19 in Sherpur

A number of 146 more persons were diagnosed with COVID-19 positive in the last 24 hours in the district after testing 460 samples at COVID-19 laboratory.

A total of 57 were diagnosed with COVID-19 positive out of 247 tested by RT-PCR laboratory of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and 89 were diagnosed with COVID-19 positive out of 213 tested by RAT laboratory of Sherpur Sadar Hospital.

Among the new positive cases, 68 are in Sherpur Sadar upazila, 29 in Nalitabari upazila, 23 in Jhenaigati upazila, 15 in Nakla upazila and 11 in Shribarddi upazila of the district, Sherpur civil surgeon Dr A.K.M Anwarur Rauf said on Saturday night 10 pm.

The total number of infected people in the district stood at 2,991 while the number of recovery cases at 2,067 and a total of 59 persons have so far died of COVID-19 in the district, the civil surgeon added. Civil surgeon Dr A.K.M Anwarur Rauf also said that infected 865 persons are now undergoing treatment at present.

A total of 45 persons are now undergoing treatment at Sherpur 250-bed General Hospitals’ Covid ward and 57 are admitted in Isolation ward, rest of the infected persons are now undergoing treatment at home quarantine under the supervision of doctors from their respective upazila health complexes.

The health expert of the district urged all to follow the health rules strictly and use masks to prevent the spread of the lethal virus.
