Village police get new dresses and bicycles in Nakla

New dresses and new bicycles were distributed among 82 village policemen in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district on Wednesday noon. The dress and bicycles were funded by the local government department.

On this occasion, a distribution program was arranged in front of the Upazila Parishad Complex with maintaining physical distance as per the instructions of the government.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zahidur Rahman presided over the distribution program, where Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of Local Government Department ATM Ziaul Islam was present as the chief guest.

Upazila parishad chairman and joint GS of upazila AL Shah Md Burhan Uddin, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawser Ahammed and Officers of different departments of the upazila, journalists of different media and many others were present.

Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of Local Government Department ATM Ziaul Islam said that, the bicycles were certified by Durant Company. The bicycles of this company are given to the village police all over the country. These came in boxed form, later village police were fitted locally. The village police have been asked to do a good service including grease, tube garters and chain lockers before using. After the distribution program, Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of Local Government Department, ATM Ziaul Islam visited Paiska Cattle Market in Nakla Municipal area and gave advisory directions to the lessee to operate the cattle market in compliance with the health rules. Then, he visited the “A” class houses of the Prime Minister’s gift handed over to the landless and homeless people in different areas of the upazila and inquired about the beneficiaries.

It may be mentioned that 1,333 families have been selected as “A” class families on the occasion of Mujib’s centenary in Sherpur district. Out of these 1,333 families, 291 houses in the first phase and 167 houses in the second phase have been handed over to families after proper construction of houses. There are 335 “A” class families in Nakla; after the construction of 58 houses in the first phase and 42 houses in the second phase, the upazila administration has handed over to the beneficiaries on behalf of the Prime Minister, UNO added.
