Two women died of corona in Sherpur

Two more women have died in Sherpur district due to coronavirus (Covid-19) in the last 24 hour till on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Sharifunnesa (70), village of Kursha Badagair in Nakla upazila and Sahera Khatun (55), village of Tinani Bazar in Jhenaigati upazila of the district.

With this, the total number of deaths in the district stood at 40. Of these, 29 in Sherpur sader upazila, 3 in Nakla upazila, 5 in Nalitabari upazila and 3 in Jhenaigati upazila.

Nakla Upazila Health and F.P Officer Dr Mohammad Golam Mostafa said that, Sharifunnesa was suffering from diabetes, pressure and anemia for a long time. She was injured in an accident last week. She was later diagnosed with Covid-19 after being tested for corona virus. Since then she has been in isolation at home. Meanwhile, her condition deteriorated and she died on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Sahera Khatun (55) was infected with Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment at Covid-19 ward of Sherpur General Hospital. She died at the hospital around 4 am on Saturday.

Meanwhile, according to the bulletin of the district health department, 31 people were newly infected with corona in the district on Friday.

Sherpur district health department sources said a total of 2,106 people were affected by corona virus (Covid-19) in the district. Of the 1,422 in Sherpur sader upazila, 216 in Nakla upazila, 206 in Nalitabari upazila, 160 in Shribarddi upazila and 102 in Jhenaigati upazila. Of the total infected patients in the district 1,181 have recovered. At present there are 887 corona patients in the district. Of these, 55 are admitted in Covid ward and 39 are admitted in Isolation ward of different hospital of the district. The rest are in isolation in their respective homes, said Sherpur Civil Surgeon Dr Anwarur Rauf.
