COVID-19: Bangladesh records 134 deaths, 6,214 new cases in 24 hours

Bangladesh has recorded 134 coronavirus deaths and 6,214 new cases in 24 hours until Saturday morning, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Saturday’s tally brings the total number of deaths in the country to 14,912 and the death rate stands at 1.59 percent.

At least 6,214 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 9,36,256, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 27.39 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.99 percent.

A total of 22,687 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours. At least 3,777 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 829,199 and the recovery rate at 88.57 percent.

Among the 134 deceased, 84 were men and 50 were women. Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, four were within 21-30, 10 between 31-40, 24 between 41-50, 30 between 51-60 and 65 were above 60 years old, added the release.
