42 homeless, landless families will get new houses in Nakla

In Nakla upazila of Sherpur district, a total of 42 landless and homeless “A” class families are getting tin set semi-paka houses as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. These houses were built under the supervision of the upazila administration and will be given as gifts to the Prime Minister in the year of Mujib. As per the instructions of the Prime Minister, it has been learnt that this work is progressing fast so that not a single person in the country remains homeless.

On Sunday, June 20 the Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate all the houses built for the “A” class landless and homeless families of the district through video conferencing. She will be directly involved in Jhenaigati upazila of the district through video conference.

Nakla Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zahidur Rahman said that after the inauguration the keys of the house, necessary documents (documents, namazari, rejection and certificate) of the house land will be handed over to the 42 new beneficiary family members of the upazila.

UNO said these houses are being given to 100 landless and homeless families of the upazila as part of the gift of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on the occasion of the birth centenary (Mujib centenary) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the Bengali nation. He also said, since the newly built houses are a gift from the Prime Minister. Therefore, he is hopeful that the construction work will be completed within the stipulated time with utmost importance.

Already, Upazila administration formally handed over the house and house land documents to 58 homeless and landless beneficiary families in the first phase allotment on January 23. The rest will get government land settlement and new semi-detached houses in phases. Made with brick walls, concrete floor and tin canopy; the semi-paka one-storey tin set house for each family will have a two-bed drawing room, veranda, toilet, kitchen and other necessary facilities suitable for a family to live in.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zahidur Rahman and Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Jahangir Alam said the construction of these houses. Political leaders including Jahangir Alam, local UP chairman and concerned people have been supervised.

Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Jahangir Alam said 42 landless and homeless families of the upazila would get new houses in time as part of the groundbreaking initiative of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina to build houses for all the landless and homeless people of the country. He said that, the project cost for the construction of each house in the first phase was estimated at Tk 171,000 lakh as per the government’s instructions. The project cost of construction of each house in the second phase has been estimated at Tk 190,000.

It may be mentioned that on Saturday, January 23, the Nakla Upazila administration formally handed over the house and house land documents to 58 homeless and landless beneficiary families in the first phase allotment on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
