COVID-19 test from home begins in Bagerhat

As corona infection is on the rise in Bagerhat and Mongla, trained health workers have started collecting Rapit Antigen Test samples by two vehicles from home on Tuesday with the slogan ‘Call hotline, sample collector will go to your home’ at the exceptional initiative of Bagerhat-2 MP Sheikh Sarhan Naser Tanmoy.

Trained health workers are rushing to the homes of people to collect corona samples after receiving calls from two hotline numbers (01920-922229 and 01400-305405).

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours in Bagerhat, 52 more corona patients have been identified in the sample test when one person died. The infection rate in the district stands at 40 percent. On the 20th day of the three-week-long strict ban, the number of coronavirus cases in Mongla is not decreasing. On Tuesday, seven more corona patients were identified in the rapid antigen test in Mongla. In Mongla, the detection rate is 50 percent.

Deputy Commissioner(DC) of Bagerhat Mohammad Azizul Islam inaugurated the rapid antigen testing program at Bagerhat Sadar Hospital on Tuesday morning.

Superintendent of Police(SP) KM Ariful Haque, Civil Surgeon KM Humayun Kabir, District Awami League General Secretary valiant freedom fighter Bhuiyan Hemayet Uddin, Sadar Upazila Chairman Sardar Nasir Uddin, Women Vice Chairman Rizia Parveen, President of Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad Dr. Mosharraf Hossain and others were present on the occasion.

Immediately after the inauguration, the district health department has started collecting samples of corona through rapid antigen testing in two vehicles from house to house in Mongla, Rampal, Sharankhola, Morelganj and Sadar upazila of Bagerhat.

Bagerhat Civil Surgeon KM Humayun Kabir said, with the overall cooperation of the health department under the initiative of MP Sheikh Tanmoy, it will be possible to bring the corona upsurge under control in the district by conducting house-to-house rapid antigen testing.

According to the Bagerhat District Health Department, 2,337 corona patients have been identified in the district so far. Of them, 58 people have died. Now 14 people are undergoing treatment in government hospitals and the rest are undergoing treatment in home isolation.
