Sapling plantation program held in Nakla

A plantation event with a slogan ‘Trees are our friends’, ‘Plant trees save the environment’ was held in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district on Thursday.

The saplings were planted under the SAFAL project and with the help of the forest department, carried out in the presence of the district BCL leaders.

Under the Social Forestry and Training Center (SFNTC) project, planting of various timber saplings was carried out on Nakla Union Health and Family Welfare Center- Bangabandhu Bazar of Dhanakusha Road from noon to afternoon. The second step is to plant saplings at different places along the road.

Social Forestry and Training Center (SFNTC) Project Officer in Charge Abdur Rezzak, PM Ata Elahi, Upazila Forest Officer Walid Bin Matin, General Secretary of Union Awami League Siraj Uddin, Joint-General Secretary Akhter Hossain, Touhidur Rahman Dalim, who the only member of Sherpur of Dhaka Metropolitan Branch of Bangabandhu Parishad, District BCL Vice president Md Abdur Rahim Mostafa, Assistant Secretary Arefin Ahmed Sarkar, Organizing Secretary Asadul Haque Asad, Deputy Program and Planning Secretary Shoaib Mahmud Rishad, Bangabandhu Education and Research Council of Nakla Upazila unit Organizing Secretary and Nakla Press Club President Md Musharaf Hossain, Organizing Secretary Nur Hossain, Executive Council Member Simanur Rahman Sukhon, local BCL activists Robin Mia, Saiful Islam, Alamgir Hossain, Antar Mia, Alam Mia and Muraduzzaman and many other young student leaders were present.

Abdur Rezzak, officer-in-charge of SFNTC said wood saplings have been planted along the 3 km road in Nakla Union of the upazila under the project. He said that the BCL leaders and locals are providing all possible assistance in planting and caring for the saplings.

Upazila Forest Officer Walid Bin Matin said there is no substitute for trees to balance the environment. That is why we are encouraging everyone to plant saplings in any fallen place in the country. He said that if trees are planted in the fallow lands on the side of the road, the balance of the environment will be maintained; as a result, the country will be full of greenery, natural beauty will increase, and the agricultural economy will be prosperous. Moreover, the road will be protected from demolition; on the other hand, a lot of money will come in the next few years. So he is encouraging everyone to plant trees on both sides of the road.
