A mobile court fined two registrars for arranging child marriages at Chitalmari in Bagerhat on Thursday.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Liton Ali fined the main registrar Ruhul Amin Tk 30,000 and Tk 15,000 to his associate Md Alamgir Hossain during a mobile court.
UNO Liton Ali said the marriage registrar of Paranpur village of the upazila Md. Ruhul Amin and his associate Md. Alamgir Hossain were registering early marriages for a long time with fake documents.
“After finding out the matter, their registry books were checked and the truth of child marriage was found,” UNO said.
According to the memos no. 17, Ruhul Amin registered the marriage of Kalim Munshi, son of Lal Mia of Ghola village of the upazila with a minor named Sumaiya Akter of Madaripur.
