Mobile court fines unauthorized oil factory in Nakla

A Mobile Court in Sherpur’s Nakla upazila fined an unauthorized Mustard oil factory owner Tk 50,000 and a Bakery owner Tk 5,000 on Monday noon.

The operation was carried out with the help of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) officials and the police department. The mobile court led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawsar Ahammed.

The Mobile Court also seized 30 bottles of mustard oil from the factory.

In the western market of Nakla town, without the approval of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), the owner of Mustard oil manufacturing factory Md Wali Ullah was fined Tk 50,000 under section 15 of the for violating BSTI Act 2018 and the owner of Shaheen Bakery was fined Tk 5,000 under section 37 of the consumer rights protection Act 2009.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) of Mymensingh Divisional Assistant Director Engineer Shashi Kanta Das, Field Officer Engineer Md Nazrul Islam, Inspector Joydev Rajbangshi and others officers of BSTI, Nakla Press Club President Md Musharaf Hossain, Vice President Khandaker Jasim Uddin Minto, General Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Sarkar Babu, SI Abu Bakker SI of Nakla police station and locals’ businessmen were present.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawsar Ahammed said that those involved would be brought under the law if they were found selling or buying any adulterated and prohibited products. He also said such campaigns would continue for the welfare of the country and the nation as well as the public interest.
